STEP 3: Assign your students a test

To assign your students a test follow the steps below. You can assign either a part, paper or whole practice test.

  1. Click the Tests tab and select Assign.
  2. Select the class from the drop-down list, then click the next button.
  3. Select the practice test from the drop-down menu in A Assign a new test.
  4. Select either Test mode or practice mode, then click the next button.
  5. Note:
    Test mode will give your students a test with no help and an optional timer.

    Practice mode will give your students a test with help features, such as dictionary look-up, tips, audio scripts and example answers. It will also allow students to check their answers as the go.

    If you give the test in Test mode first you can re-assign in Practice mode to allow the students to check their answers using the help features.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click the plus to see all the papers and parts of the test.
  8. Click the Preview link if you would like to view the test.
  9. Click the test, paper or part name to select what you would like to assign, then click the next button.
  10. If you do not wish to assign the test to all students, un-tick some of the students.
  11. Click the next button.
  12. Change the assignment details if necassary, then click the next button.
  13. Show/hide explanation of Assignment details:

  14. Check the summary carefully. You will see the default email that will be sent to your students. You can add an optional message to this email.
  15. Click the confirm and send button to send the email.
  16. Note:
    If you assigned the Speaking paper click the Tests tab and select Resources. Then select the test from the drop-down list to download and/or print off a PDF copy of the Speaking paper.
    Note:
    If you assigned a paper or part, you can assign other papers and parts by repeating the steps above and selecting the test from B Assign from an active test in step 2.

Now the test has been assigned you can track your students' progress.
